Here at New Orleans Web Design Studio, we love animals! What better way to help animals in shelters than contributing directly to their cause. We donate 15% of all of our hosting fees to a local shelter or animal rescue in need of funds. These local organizations rely purely on donations to feed their animals and provide shelter and veterinary care, which can often be very costly. We believe all pets should be entitled to a happy and healthy life, and this is our way of helping them achieve it.

While an overwhelming number (millions) of animals enter shelters each year, we believe that if enough people contribute just a small portion to help fund the shelters and rescue groups, we can help with spaying and neutering costs, help with providing shelter, and ultimately minimize the number of animals that unfortunately get euthanized. Below are some statistics from the SPCA.

  • Approximately 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.9 million are dogs and 3.4 million are cats.

  • Each year, approximately 2.7 million animals are euthanized (1.2 million dogs and 1.4 million cats).

  • Approximately 2.7 million shelter animals are adopted each year (1.4 million dogs and 1.3 million cats).

  • About 649,000 animals who enter shelters as strays are returned to their owners. Of those, 542,000 are dogs and only 100,000 are cats.

  • Of the dogs entering shelters, approximately 35% are adopted, 31% are euthanized and 26% of dogs who came in as strays are returned to their owner.

  • Of the cats entering shelters, approximately 37% are adopted, 41% are euthanized, and less than 5% of cats who came in as strays are returned to their owners.

  • About twice as many animals enter shelters as strays compared to the number that are relinquished by their owners.

These numbers are truly heartbreaking, and we strive to do our part by contributing to the needs of these animals. We aim to support local shelters and rescues in Louisiana for the time being, but we would ultimately love to grow our business to significantly help shelters across the entire United States.

Host your website with New Orleans Web Design Studio and feel good knowing that a portion of the proceeds help these animals each and every month!

So, how much does it cost to build a website? That's one of the top questions I'm asked when I initially meet with clients to discuss building their website. While I always expect this question to arise early in our conversation, as I understand the "shopping around" process, I often give my clients a very broad price range and explain to them the various factors that determine the price of a custom designed website.

Let's think of the web design process like buying a new car. If you were to call a dealership and ask how much they charge for their vehicles, they would likely, eh, definitely ask you to come in person and see the different models they offer. Notice how auto advertisements word their ads "Starting at $$" or "From $$." That's because they cannot give an exact price until you've specified the options you want. However, by getting to know a little about your lifestyle and your budget, a good auto dealer will help you find a vehicle that's well suited for you, and he can then give you a realistic price range. The same goes for web design.

While cliche phrases can be pretty silly, there is actually truth behind the saying "You get what you pay for." Far too often, unexperienced web designers are eager for a quick sale, much like a sly used car salesman. At New Orleans Web Design Studio, we don't believe in sales tactics that tempt the customer with unbelievably low prices and acting upon impulse. Our founding web designer has dedicated her entire life to art and design, and with her future in mind, she spent her college years combining her technical and design skills so she could offer unique, high quality web design services to local businesses.

We at New Orleans Web Design Studio have over 10 years of website design and graphic art expertise under our belts, and we take pride in the services we offer. Here are just a few of the options we take into consideration when designing websites.

Primary Use for Your Website & Your Target Customers

It's important to know who visits your website and what devices they use. We provide designs that are user-friendly and compatible across all browsing devices from desktop computers to tablets and smartphones.

Relevant Search Phrases

It's also important to understand what terms people will enter into search engines to find your business on the web. We go beyond simply using the basic phrases and also include more precise terms that result in higher quality clicks. We consider those terms beforehand and incorporate them naturally into your website so it ranks well in search engines for those phrases.

Frequency of Updates

Depending on how often a client updates his/her website, we may suggest features that streamline the process, such as blogs with auto-posting to Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks.

Potential for Growth

Quite often, when we build a website, we realize that it will not be frozen in time, unchanged forever. Understanding how a website will grow and designing it so it can easily accommodate new content and menus while maintaining a visually appealing layout will keep your future costs to a minimum. Why make a client pay for costly redesigns when we can make something flexible in the first place?

By taking multiple factors like these into consideration, we give our clients dependable websites that help them achieve the results they desire. We never oversell our services, and we never take shortcuts either. We strive to maintain a perfect balance between our clients' needs and the website we provide them. If we're not helping your business grow, we're not doing our job.

In future blog posts, we will discuss these factors in detail, so please follow us on Facebook or LinkedIn to stay informed.

If you're using Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to promote your business, we can save you lots of time by providing you with a blog that automatically posts updates to these social networking websites. When you use your own private blog in this manner, you'll not only benefit from the time you save, but you'll keep your content on your website, which in turn can help your website rank higher in search engines.

The information you publish on the web about your business should always originate from your own website and then be shared across your social networks, not vice versa. If you use a Facebook or Twitter plugin on your site that embeds the content from those networks, your website could be losing out on important data and suffering in search engines.

Contact New Orleans Web Design Studio today if you'd like more information on how a blog with automatic posting across social networks can improve your website. It's very easy to use and can be set up and ready to go in a single business day.

So you paid good money for your website, but you may be disappointed by the number of people who actually find you on the web. One of the biggest mistakes made by small businesses is purchasing their web hosting from a major non-local company with the idea that they will pay a low monthly fee and have a beautiful website that will show up on the first page of Google whenever someone searches for keywords pertaining to their services and geographic location. Wrong. Those big web hosts may throw around some cheap or free promotions for ad campaigns and services, but the truth is that becoming and staying visible in search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing, requires ongoing maintenance and analysis. It takes critical thinking by someone who not only understands search engine optimization but who also understands you and your business. To the big guys, you're just a number, and chances are they don't know anything about local New Orleans business trends. Many of those companies also sell pricey SEO services that don't target the appropriate audience.

Here at New Orleans Web Design Studio and BuckMoth.com, we take the time to understand your business, your products and services as well as your targeted customer base, and we provide realistic strategies to boost your business on the web through the use of keyword targeting, link building and social networking.

We offer a variety of website services in addition to SEO, such as basic small site hosting with do-it-yourself website editors, secure e-commerce solutions and full feature-packed custom designed websites.

Best of all, we're located right here in Metairie, less than a minute from the New Orleans parish line. Contact us today for a quote on any of the website services you may need!

I am excited to announce the launching of this blog, and I hope it will enable me to provide all of my clients (existing and new) with useful information.
